Event Description

Media Production in a Web X.O World

If the past few years were about video delivery and display technology, 2008 was all about online video viewership. The proof is in the numbers:
  • In 2008 video accounts for 60% of all Internet traffic
  • For this summer’s Beijing Olympic Games, NBC Universal served up 10 million hours of streaming video, capturing over 50 million unique viewers
  • By 2011 video will be approaching 90% of all Internet traffic
  • By 2012 there will be 1 billion video consumers on the Internet.

The trend has been clear for some time now, video is moving to the web, and so are your clients. Our February networking event will be led by C.O. Little of Gulf Stream Communications. Come join the conversation about how the web is changing the communication landscape.

In the nineties we saw the emergence of Web 1.0 – we just needed to get connected – needed a Browser…Email. But after 2000 the emergence of Web 2.0 added XML and new applications like Wikis, Social Networking sites, Mashups. Now we are connected at work and home on PCs and mobile devices and have lots of video. But, the best is yet to come. Web 3.0 will be about any media or application, anywhere on any device. This will enable a new breed of video, mobility, and virtualization solutions. This is an exciting vision! Are you ready for this transformation?

Join us on February 17 to discuss how media producers can take advantage of the dramatic changes taking place in how the world communicates: improved business communications, web-based marketing, lower travel expenses, reduce carbon footprints, reduce printing costs, and reduce time to market. It’s where your clients are headed – if not already there – and with today’s difficult economy you can help them accelerate their move online. Social networking begins @ 6:30, with the main talk at 7:00.
