PROTRACK™:
As usual, the quality of the speakers for MCA-I ProTrack exceeded my expectations. From business to networking to practical tips - we had it all. And our Halloween gathering at the beach in Newport was too much fun. I also wanted to express my thanks for receiving the Chuck Webb Award this year. And to cap it off, I won the Grand Door Prize from Adobe. It was a super weekend.

PROTRACK™: For over 20 years ITVA and then MCA-I conferences have been the most valuable, enjoyable, and memorable part of my association with the members who make it up MCA-I. The local chapter conferences and get-togethers (or WetNets as we called them, a name probably borrowed from another Chapter I’m sure) are a smaller scale but just as important part of the value that, I believe, members get from being involved with others in their industry. I returned home from that MCA-I conference with a fresh, new approach to my work and memories of a great holiday. The aim to attend ProTrack again this year has me nervous that I’ll be crazy enough to attempt chairing a local Chapter again…  Steve King Screentime - Steve King, Screentime, New Zealand details

PROTRACK™:
This was a great conference for Milwaukee. National caliber speakers like Jan Ozer and Jacob Rosenberg and the Business Successs track were definite high points. It was great exposure for my students and great to rub shoulders with local leaders from around the country.

PROTRACK™:
MCA-I ProTrack 2007 in Milwaukee! What a great time. The sessions were great, as usual. And it was wonderful to reconnect with friends from all over the country and make a bunch of new contacts.
From dawn to way past dusk, we were learning the ins and outs of new techniques and technologies, power networking, and generally have a ball. A couple of sessions left many of us with our jaws open in amazement at the future of communications. It certainly has given me a lot to think about and some new tools to take the next steps as we move into a new reality. Oh, and the weather was unbelievably beautiful in Milwaukee, too

I've been in the media communications business since the late 70's and have seen a lot of changes, but never so fast and furious as right now. One of the best ways to stay on top of the trends is to come to professional development conferences like MCA-I ProTrack.

PROTRACK™: Let the evolution begin! I can't express my joy enough from watching the new generation of MCA-I Leadership develop their new relationships and form a bond that should be the nucleus of our future successes. Their energy and enthusiasm was contagious! How many of us found ourselves out late past our bedtimes, shakin' our tail feathers at the Safe House and feelin' our oats while hanging out with this new, young and energetic group? And it wasn't just about the fun factor, these young'ns contributed great ideas to our Leadership Conference and really appreciated their opportunities during the ProTrack sessions. Our experience in Milwaukee was fantastic on so many fronts, I applaud our fearless leader Mike Brown, the Board of Directors and everyone else who's efforts contributed to the success of what I consider one of the best Conferences MCA-I has ever hosted. Congrats to all of us! - Gary Shifflet details

PROTRACK™: Once again -- the first time was at the board retreat in January 2007 -- I was struck by how much talent, generosity, and can-do energy we have as a goup. It's no wonder MCA-I is on the comeback trail, re-emerging as an important network for media communications professionals. ProTrack reaffirmed my pride in our team. Additionally, and for the first time in a long time, we had a strong contingent of twenty-somethings at the leadership conference, people with new ideas and the drive to implement them. It was truly exciting. The challenge for those who came to ProTrack will be to convey to those who didn't the hope and excitement we experienced, and to make them want to invest in the new MCA-I. - Linda Lopez details

PROTRACK™: I got to meet and remeet some great people at conference and also got an insight to the future of video tape and a look the tapeless world. - Charles Welbourn details

PROTRACK™: Since the ProTrack Conference, I’ve been “pitching” ways to re-purpose content that my company has already produced. Several of my clients are very interested in the podcasting & webcasting information I’ve brought back. Also, beyond the “creative boost” one experiences being around other chapter members and the seminar experts, I realized the network of contacts I’ve made will be great resources for one of my upcoming original productions that will require me to travel across the country. - Steven Panayioto - 2007 details

PROTRACK™: Among other things, this association gives me the opportunity to step away from my own frenetic/sometimes rewarding/often confusing world to spend time in the company of my peers and reflect upon what I've been actually doing. It is not a process of conscious scrutinization, but more the luxury of being among others who apply this craft of electronic story telling as I do. Hanging out with these professionals not only validates what I do and believe, it's a rejuvenating break from being in the company of strangers (clients) who don't always "get it." I even got a new idea or two. When we have our faces buried in our work every day, it’ difficult to get the perspective to gauge the value of our creations. And, after all, isn't our true purpose-not so much what we create-but the effect it has on those who experience it? ! Our association conference allows us that critical perspective. All us craft-folk get to sit together, shoulder-to-shoulder, and step away from our daily tedium to really examine if what we have done actually serves the purpose for which it was intended. This conference (ProTrack '07) was our most effective in this century. Way to go MCA-I! - Lee Vogel details

PROTRACK™: I think everyone should attend Pro Track because it's like a weekend retreat. It helps you just get away from the daily routine of life a little bit to get together with colleagues and friends. It's one of those mini vacations. - Tina Wilson details

PROTRACK™: I certainly can't write about everything that I got out of it (ProTrack) but I'll touch on a few high points from my perspective. I spent the majority of my days attending the Streaming Video sessions and the mobile/online delivery of video and audio. I see every video professional dealing with these technologies in one way or another even if they don't want to. It's part of the future and needs to be understood. Do I understand it all, of course not....but after my sessions I gained much needed education about the topics of interest to me and momentum and contacts to pursue further education and solutions for my growing list of demands at my job. I also really enjoyed a session about long-form documentary's. Ron Osgood from Indiana University discussed his current documentary with us: how it came about, getting funding, the equipment he used, juggling full-time work with an evening and weekend passion for making his doc. The kicker for me was being able to talk with him, one one after the session had ended. I continued to pick his brain at the follow up happy hour party and through dinner that evening. I know he got sick of me but it was a great opportunity I had and I made the most of it. I encourage you to check out his project at www.myvietnamyouriraq.org - Dustin McEntarfer details

PROTRACK™: "The MCA-I conference was everything I hoped it would be. I've just completed one job that I got thanks to the networking. The Golden Reel Award in Training my company received is getting positive feedback from our clients. The time spent with other attendees was, as always, inspiring. Last but not least, I'm just now starting to put some of the 'tips and tricks' I learned at the sessions into practice. Thanks again, MCA-I." - Steven Panayioto
