Two Southern California MCA-I Chapters Plan MediaPro Camps in ’10
|
Both the LA/OC Chapter and the San Diego Chapter of MCA-I will be holding MediaPro Camps this year. MediaPro Camps are a new conference format where pros can train and be trained.San Diego’s MediaPro Camp, their first ever, will be held February 6th at the famous Art Institute of California San Diego in Mission Valley. It will be catered by the Art Institute’s culinary school!
“We got a lot of help from the OC Chapter,” said Phil Ferrari, “since they had been through this last June.” The LA/OC Chapter garnered much success with the first-of-its-kind event and is planning a second one in June 2010. “MediaProCamp became the new standard for our chapter’s service to the professional community in OC,” related John Coleman, one of the original organizers. “Besides introducing us to lots of new faces, it became a brand we can use for marketing ourselves. Our next one is going to be even better known!”
Every MediaProCamp is different because content is determined by the participants! MediaProCamp is an all day gathering of media professionals representing every discipline and every medium. MediaProCamp consists of open roundtable discussions on any subject the participants choose - with multiple breakout sessions every half hour or so. This format is intensely productive and provides for fabulous networking. It's an exciting cross-pollination of useful ideas, techniques and information. Interactivity among all of the participants guarantees a powerful experience for everyone. Everybody brings their personal expertise and plenty of questions. You can create a topic for discussion and form a group... or sit in on any group/any topic you choose.
San Diego has booked Philip Hodgetts as keynote speaker and guest host. He was also a participant in the OC MediaProCamp last year. Philip is the creator of Digital Production Buzz, was co-host and managing editor of DV Guys, and author of The New Now and HD Survival Handbook 2009-2010, Creative COW contributing editor, and creator of Intelligent Assistance.
