Connie Terwilliger's Voice Part of Successful "Yes on G" Campaign

Like clockwork, when political season rolls around, full time voice talent Connie Terwilliger gets her share of last minute calls to voice radio and TV spots for candidates and propositions. This year, Connie was part of the TV campaign that propelled Proposition G to victory in Chula Vista CA. Created and produced by Steve Powell, Principal and Creative Director of ad guys, the win marked the first time a ballot measure banning use of preferred labor agreements in municipally-funded construction projects passed in the United States.

The first spot (included here below) was recorded in Connie's professional home studio weeks before election day on June 8. The last spot was recorded just a few days before while she was away from her studio at a large voiceover conference (VOICE 2010) in Los Angeles. The organizers of the event had arranged with Dave & Dave for a Whisper Room with ISDN and Phone Patch to be available for free for voice talent attending the conference. Within two hours of getting the call, Connie was able to book time in the booth and connect with Steve to get the spot recorded and delivered in time for the final push.

The campaign, under the direction of veteran general consultant Eddie Mahe, captured a winning margin of 56% of the votes cast. The race was by far the most expensive in Tuesday’s June 8th Primary election with total expenditures well in excess of $1.2 million by both backers and opponents funded by major labor groups and their allies.
